As a loyalty consultant, I often get asked, ‘What’s your favourite loyalty program?’ MECCA Beauty Loop still makes that question surprisingly easy to answer. I’m always joining, engaging with and studying hundreds of different loyalty programs. I look closely at the framework, the mechanics and the execution.
You’d think choosing one favourite would feel like choosing a favourite child. But actually, it’s not.
While there are a handful of world class programs doing things well end-to-end, there are many more loyalty programs with a poor program design, poor communications, poor rewards options, poor commercial modelling and the list goes on.
But, MECCA Beauty Loop is just picture perfect and gets my #1 vote (for now). Here’s everything you need to know about MECCA Beauty Loop.

Since this article first appeared, MECCA Beauty Loop has become more layered.
Members now move through four levels, based on yearly spend. Each level unlocks Beauty Loop Boxes, Beauty Loop Bonuses, birthday surprises and online samples. Higher levels add Insider Access, event invitations and complimentary MECCA Natural makeup applications.
The program still does what it did beautifully in 2020. It makes beauty rewards feel generous, relevant and worth chasing.

Why I LOVE the program:
It’s Super Simple – it’s easy to join online, in-store or through the MECCA App. Members can track purchases, wishlists and Beauty Loop status through their account. MECCA also makes the value exchange clear. Share enough information, and the birthday surprise becomes part of the fun.
It’s Really Relevant – the rewards (free cosmetics products and services) are perfectly suited to an audience of cosmetics lovers whilst being complementary and contextually relevant to the MECCA brand.
It’s Very Valuable – regular samples encourage members to try new products. Those trials can drive future spend, loyalty and affective commitment to the brand.
It’s Commercially Cost-Effective – the commercial model is very efficient for MECCA. Beauty brands can reach a highly engaged member base through Beauty Loop Boxes and Bonuses. The service-based rewards also feel more valuable than they cost to provide. Members also have reasons to visit stores or shop online throughout the year. That creates valuable upsell opportunities for MECCA.
It’s Distinctly Differentiating – many MECCA products can be bought elsewhere. Customers can buy through brands, department stores or other beauty retailers. Beauty Loop gives members a reason to keep coming back to MECCA. That matters when the retailer is known for not discounting.
It’s Agile and Adapting – MECCA adapted quickly during COVID-19 lockdown. At the time, it gave members free shipping on all orders. That mattered when members could not get into stores. It showed MECCA could still deliver service and value.
It’s Deeply Delighting – by nature, the program surprises and delights members with exciting new samples released with every new Beauty Loop box. MECCA also uses additional surprise and delight tactics within its program to capitalise on the powerful benefits this approach can deliver from a consumer psychology perspective. This includes increased word-of-mouth promotion, lower selling and advertising costs, lower customer acquisition costs, higher revenues due to higher initial and repeat sales, and long-term strategic advantages due to increased brand equity and increased ability to withstand new entrants as identified by Berman (2005)[1].
