Have you always wondered where King Kong’s home is actually located? While the archaeologists who first discovered Skull Island have tried to keep its location secret, Google have today announced they’ve managed to find the hidden island and have launched it on Google Maps. Take your first look here.
Already several thousand users have rated and reviewed the island in a clever engagement play which both promotes the upcoming movie Kong Skull Island and injects some fun into Google Maps.
Google Maps also links to a promotional website www.discoverskullisland.com which allows budding explorers to review cryptozoology reports, monarch field recordings, photo journals and more in different locations across the island.
This is certainly the most original promotional approach Loyalty & Reward Co have seen since the ‘Have You Seen Our Dragon?’ posters used by Disney for the launch of Pete’s Dragon.
